Description

CLASSICISM AT HOME: ARCHITECTURE OF ALIREZA SAGHARCHI, edited by former Country Life editor Clive Aslet, is the first book to feature the precisely detailed, sumptuous architecture of Alireza Sagharchi, principal of the venerable London-based firm Stanhope Gate. An internationally renowned architect and a leading practitioner and exponent of contemporary classical architecture and traditional urban design, Sagharchi is a master of his craft. He is, as well, as an exquisitely sensitive artist whose projects—many of which, until now, have been unpublished and little seen—are an eloquent expression of beauty, refinement, understanding and taste.

From a middle-European Palladian Villa to a country house in Scotland, Sagharchi’s work is a testament to the virtues of traditional planning and design as married to an informed and inspired vision that embraces the wisdom of the past, of classicism and vernacular traditions, while establishing harmony with the needs of contemporary living.

With a foreword by HRH The Prince of Wales and an insightful essay by architect and scholar Léon Krier, this handsome volume features exquisite interiors and exteriors as well as beautifully manicured gardens for projects around the world complemented by richly-detailed new photography and meticulous drawings. CLASSICISM AT HOME is a brilliant examination of neo-Classical architecture.
