From 28–31 May 2026, the international Frascati Conference ‘Humanitas and the Harmony of Place’ — held in memory of Léon Krier — took place at Accademia Vivarium Novum, Villa Falconieri, Frascati, Rome.
As Accademia Vivarium Novum prepares to launch a new education programme dedicated to traditional architecture, the conference hosted an open discussion among the founders of established, emerging, and soon-to-launch schools of traditional architecture across Europe.
Participants included INTBAU members Nadia Everard (La Table Ronde d’Architecture, France; Chair of INTBAU Belgium), Ana Maria Goilav (Bunești School of Architecture, Romania; Deputy Chair of INTBAU Romania), Frank Martinez (University of Miami, USA; Fundación Culturas Constructivas Tradicionales, Spain; INTBAU Spain), and Matthew Hardy (The King’s Foundation, UK; architect and member of INTBAU’s founding team). The discussion was moderated by Georgia Cristea, conservation architect and Chair of INTBAU Romania.
The session opened with brief presentations of each school’s educational programme, highlighting its distinctive characteristics. The discussion aimed to foster cooperation among this growing constellation of traditional architectural education initiatives and to encourage the development of a coherent, coordinated curriculum.

About the Frascati Conference
The concept, content and organisation of the conference, now in its 3rd edition, have been led by Professor Ettore Maria Mazzola (Architect and Urbanist, Professor of the Practice, School of Architecture, University of Notre Dame in Rome), a long-standing member of INTBAU.
Over the past three editions, the Frascati Conference, hosted and organised by Accademia Vivarium Novum has established itself as a significant educational forum and a leading platform for critical discourse within the field of traditional architecture. The 4th edition of the Conference, to be held in 2027, will be dedicated to sacred and religious architecture across all faith traditions.
