Hugh Kavanagh has worked as an archaeological surveyor in Ireland for over 20 years. His work covers all aspects of professional archaeology but he specialises in built heritage with a broad swathe of experience working on buildings from the medieval to the modern. Hugh also teaches Classical Architecture at St. John’s College in Cork City and was Chair of INTBAU Ireland from 2018 to 2020.
In 2016 he was a student at the inaugural INTBAU European Summer School in Classical Architecture in Sweden and writes a blog on the philosophy and practice of traditional architecture today.
Hugh’s current focus is on making the understanding and practice of Classical Architecture more accessible by developing educational resources that have an emphasis on vocational learning.
