Contact

Hugh Kavanagh works with the Prince’s Foundation as coordinator of the All-Ireland Heritage Skills Programme. This educational programme supports craftspeople who wish to develop their skills and work in the architectural heritage sector across the island of Ireland.

Before taking on his role with the Prince’s Foundation, he worked as a cabinetmaker and as an archaeological surveyor specialising in architectural heritage and conservation. He also teaches night classes in Furniture Making and Classical Architecture at St. John’s College in Cork City, Ireland.

Hugh is particularly interested in using his extensive experience working in craft and archaeology to develop holistic educational tools that reconnect traditional architectural design to heritage craft skills. He also has a passion for hand-drafting and classical architecture composition.

In 2016 Hugh was a student at the inaugural INTBAU European Summer School in Classical Architecture at Englesberg in Sweden and he also served as Chair of INTBAU Ireland from 2018 to 2020.
