In 2012 Pablo Álvarez Funes, Javier Cenicacelaya and Alejandro García Hermida established INTBAU Spain. Since then it has become an important network of individuals and the necessary platform to promote and link the numerous related initiatives existing in Spain. More than 300 people had joined INTBAU Spain by 2018.
Our main goal is sharing, connecting and promoting not only INTBAU’s initiatives, but also what our members are organizing or developing: the Richard H. Driehaus Architecture Competition , the Richard H. Driehaus Building Arts Awards, the Rafael Manzano Prize and its yearly conferences and summer schools, the National Directory of Traditional Building Masters, the activities of Terrachidia Association , those of the Centro de Investigación de Arquitectura Tradicional (CIAT) and many other events organized by any of our members and sharing our aims: to promote a contemporary practice of building, architecture and urbanism nurtured and enriched by the legacy of tradition.
We also collaborate with a number of national and international institutions, including the Spanish Ministry of Culture, the Spanish Ministry of Public Works, the Cultural Heritage Institute of Spain, Hispania Nostra, Fundaçao Serra Henriques, Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando, the Council of Architecture Institutes of Spain (CSCAE) and numerous Spanish and foreign universities.
INTBAU Spain is closely collaborating with INTBAU Portugal too. The First INTBAU Iberian Meeting took place in 2016.
