The Netherlands is a country both famous for its beautiful traditional cities and for its innovative contemporary architecture.

INTBAU-NL is a network of individuals taking an active roll in the discussion on tradition. Since the founding of the Council for European Urbanism in 2003 the network organised excursions, exhibitions, lectures and debates. Architects, urbanists and planners working with an open mind for tradition showed their work and projects. In 2010 the book “The New Tradition” was published, presenting built projects on the scale of individual houses, neighbourhoods, villages and cities. In 2011 the Dutch Chapter of INTBAU was formalised, while the activities remained organised on an ad hoc base. INTBAU and CEU welcomed other initiatives, like Motra, students-organisation BSK, the Institute of Traditional Architecture and individuals working in the field of heritage, architecture and urbanism.

We support the idea that beautiful and well functioning streets and buildings offer solutions for the creations of new, sustainable and nice places to live. Therefore INTBAU-NL organises excursions that combine familiar old and new projects througout the country, with lectures from the professionals working on the theme. News and activities are shared and every participant can present ideas and work at hand- which is often the theme of a next excursion.

We welcome international exchange and hope to expand our network activities in the beautiful, wide and urgent field of urbanism, architecture and heritage.

You can become a member of INTBAU-NL for free by signing up on the INTBAU website for general membership.
Once you have signed up you will receive the international newsletter and invitations for INTBAU-NL activities by email.
