INTBAU Mexico promotes traditional architecture and urbanism as living cultural expressions, rooted in heritage yet responsive to contemporary needs. The chapter advocates for a purposeful approach to preservation, applying traditional building knowledge, craftsmanship, and urban form to create humane, beautiful, and enduring environments. It supports both the conservation of built heritage and the creation of new traditional architecture and urbanism, prioritising community, cultural identity, and long-term sustainability.

INTBAU Mexico fosters collaboration among architects, urbanists, artisans, academics, and communities, connecting local initiatives with the wider INTBAU network.

This work includes an official collaboration agreement with ASINEA, the national association that brings together Mexico’s architecture schools and academic institutions to promote excellence and collaboration in architectural education, as well as previous collaborations with Mexico’s National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH).

Activities – Spring 2026

Most activities this semester will take place at the Palacio Postal in Mexico City.

1. Seaside Prize Weekend: 6–9 February 2026
INTBAU Mexico members will participate as volunteers in selected activities

2. Exhibition – “Shared Landscapes between Mexico and Italy”: March–June 2026

3. Latin American Conference of Traditional Architecture and Urbanism: 29–31 May 2026
In collaboration with INTBAU Cuba, Brazil, Colombia, KRVIA, and ASINEA

4. Mexico City Summer School: 1–14 June 2026, including the following activities:

– Visits to archaeological sites
– Development of an urban proposal for the area of Bellas Artes and the Templo Mayor
– Permanent Seminar in Classical Architectural Design at Universidad La Salle México
– In collaboration with ASINEA and the Classic Planning Institute
– Workshops, online lectures, and monthly publications – Dates to be determined
– Translation of a Classical Architecture book, in collaboration with other institutions

These activities aim to foster education, professional exchange, and community engagement in traditional architectural and urban practices across Mexico and Latin America.
