Ataa Alsalloum is an academic who aims to make a contribution to the advancement of management practices to the objective of integrating cultural heritage management, urban planning and sustainable urban development.
As such, she is extremely keen to demonstrate clearly and unambiguously the central role cultural heritage can play in the sustainable urban development of our society and vice versa. Such a demonstration will reinforce the importance of protecting heritage for the benefit of present and future generations. She has been focused most recently on the case of post-war reconciliation in the Middle East & North Africa region where a particular type of heritage/historic cities (Medinas) have been under threat. Additionally, heritage policy documents issued by UNESCO, the Council of Europe and other relevant organisations are her main research interest.
