2020 Scholarship for Architecture Students

*Please note, due to the current outbreak, and the foreseeable travel restrictions this may place upon travel between July and September 2020, we will support and actively consider alternative research proposals that make the necessary adjustments. Please see below for more details.

Thanks to the support of Yiangou Architects, INTBAU would like to announce the opening of its biennial £2,000 travel scholarship to encourage the next generation of researchers and practitioners of traditional architecture, and to support research of clear value that would not otherwise be undertaken. The closing date is 30th April 2020.

Applications are sought from full-time architecture students. Judges will be looking for original research proposals related to one of the three themes for INTBAU’s 2020 World Congress, which will take place at the Royal Society of Arts in London on 5th and 6th November 2020. These themes are Methods, Materials and Learning.

Scholarship recipients will produce a record of their research in a format that can be featured as part of the World Congress programme: for example, an essay, or a series of drawings and images.

To help make the scholarship as widely and globally accessible as possible, an additional stipend of up to £750 may be provided to students for whom the costs of travel, accommodation, and visas would exceed £2,000 because of distance or other unavoidable factors.

*Please note, due to the current outbreak, and the foreseeable travel restrictions this may place upon travel between July and September 2020, we will support and actively consider applications that make necessary adjustments. This may be that research applications include subsistence costs, postpone travel, or include travel in country and closer to home. We are optimistic that the situation will have improved greatly by September 2020, and will be keeping this opportunity open for review, subject to government advice nearer the time.
