Travel

Nigeria is situated in the west Africa and shares a border with Niger, Chad, Cameroon and Republic of Benin. It is made up of a vast landscape that stretches across 923, 768 square km of sahara, sahel, hillsides, estuaries and rainforest.

The conference will be taking place in 'Kano State', which is situated on 12°00'N 8°31'E Coordinates. Kano is Nigeria's third largest city and is noted as the Nigerian centre for commerce. It is one of the great centres of West African Civilisation and is noted for its diversity in crafts and industry. The traditional "Hausa Mud Architecture" has received international recognition and is home to Kano inhabitants, the Hausa people. The main Religion in Kano is Islam which and a lot influence is taken from Islamic Architecture in the built environment, with a number of beautiful mosques scattered around the city.

Kano has an international airport for members coming from outside Nigeria, and international standard conference halls and accomodation. It is a big urban community housing different Nigerian cultures as well North African, Arabic and Indian communities. There is a wide choice of restaurants, bakeries and fast food eateries that will suit everyone.

Travel Information

To enter the Federal Republic of Nigeria visitor’s will have to apply for a visa. Invitation letters can be written by INTBAU on request.

Passports will have to be valid for a minimum of 6 months beyond the date of departure required by all.

Visas

Visas are required by all nationalities except the following Nationals of Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameron, Chad, Cote d’lvoire. The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mauritania, Morocco, Niger, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo, for stays of up to 90 days. Transit passengers continuing their journey by the same or first connection aircraft can do so, provided they hold a valid visa or return documentation whilst eaving the airport. All visa applications must go to the Nigerian Consulate (or consular section at the Embassy or High Commission). Visa Application requirements are:

  • Completed application form
  • Passport
  • 1 passport-size photo
  • Onward or return ticket for Tourist visas
  • Letter of introduction from INTBAU Nigeria chapter
