A group called Students for Classical Architecture has launched in the United States. SCA has four main goals:
- Support students around the world who show interest in the traditions of architecture.
- Supplement university curriculum relevant to classical design through salons, lectures and tours.
- Lobby NAAB (National Architectural Accrediting Board) and universities to offer classical studios, reinstate required history courses and otherwise promote an architectural curriculum based in tradition.
- Educate the general public about the current state of architectural education.

SCA have also announced several events:
9-10 April: The Application of Classical Design in a 12-hour Esquisse An internationally held design competition presented by the student committee for “From Vernacular to Classical: The Perpetual Modernity of Palladio”. Top award: $500 and drawing exhibition. Jury includes: Thomas Gordon Smith (chair), Robert Adam, Leon Krier, Michael Lykoudis, and David Watkin. Participation is open current students and recent graduates (by no more than 5 years). Pre-registration required. To pre-register, please click here.
10 April: Learning from Palladio: A Call for Student Papers Winning author will be invited to attend the international conference sponsored by the University of Notre Dame, “From Vernacular to Classical: The Perpetual Modernity of Palladio” for the presentation of their paper. Open to students in the US, UK and Canada. Presented by the student committee for the “From Vernacular to Classical” Conference. Travel expenses and $500 cash prize awarded to first place, two runner-ups will be awarded $250 each.
15 May: A Charleston Tradition A student essay competition sponsored by the Students for Classical Architecture. One winner will be granted free tuition to the five-day summer intensive sponsored by the Charleston chapter of Institute of Classical Architecture and Art and the American College of the Building Arts. Summer Intensive dates: June 15 - 20, 2011.
