Urban Design/Master Planner - Winchester Office
An opportunity to work with one of the leading firms in the field of classical and traditional architecture. Our multi-disciplinary urban design team has a vacancy for an experienced master planner. Projects include; two harbour sites in Scotland, each with approx. 3,000 residential units and 50,000 square metres of commercial space; four other long-standing projects and further new work in England and abroad. Our approach is highly practical but inspired by traditional urbanism without any necessary stylistic architectural bias.

Candidates will have a formal qualification in landscape architecture, town planning or architecture. A post-graduate qualification in urban design would be a distinct advantage, as would membership of a relevant professional body. Successful applicants will have proven design office experience.

Experienced Architect/Designer & Architectural Assistant Part II

We are a small multi-disciplinary practice based in a leafy mews off Portobello Rd in Notting Hill. We specialize in traditional architecture, New Urbanism and sustainability, but we also work in contemporary style when appropriate.

Our projects range from top end luxury residential refurbishment and bespoke interiors to planning and design for large scale developments in the UK and abroad.

We are now looking for creative, motivated and enthusiastic individuals who seek the challenge of being part of a small busy practice. We expect full commitment but offer opportunities for positions of responsibility, experience and variety.

1. Experienced Architect/Designer (30-40k) required to manage smaller residential projects, minimum 5 years experience, AutoCAD/AutoCAD Lt fluent; knowledge and ability in 3-D modeling desirable. Good communication and mature personal presentation skills essential. Interest in and knowledge of traditional architecture and design and the principles of sustainability essential. The successful candidate will be organised and able to multi-task as befits the responsibilities of running small domestic projects from conception to completion. They will be expected to have knowledge of budgets, Specification, contract management, etc, including abilities in Instruction, Snagging, etc, etc. £-negotiable.

2. Architectural Assistant Part II/Architectural Technician: (25-30k) AutoCAD/AutoCAD Lt min. 2 years experience; some ability in 3-D modeling essential. Knowledge/Understanding of Construction. Hand-sketching abilities preferable. Good communication and mature personal presentation skills essential. Interest in traditional architecture and design, and the principles of sustainability essential. The successful candidate will be bright, energetic, inquisitive, organized and hungry to learn and grow. At an early stage they will be expected to participate in all aspects of running small jobs, including Specification writing, site visits, etc.

Generally: experience, practicality, teamwork capability, enthusiasm and desire to learn may be valued more than paper qualifications.

We have two generous desk spaces available to sub-let, either as a pair, or in singles.

The office is open plan, but with an informal friendly atmosphere. We have a separate Library/Meeting room, Kitchen and WC facilities and a store/archive/server room.

    The vacancies for both positions are not necessarily dependant upon hotel specific experience or being AutoCAD proficient, but this would be an advantage to the candidate.
