Alireza Sagharchi is a British Architect, who received his Diploma in Architecture from the University of Westminster, London. Mr. Sagharchi is a corporate member of the Royal Institute of British Architects since 1986 and the principal of Stanhope Gate Architecture + Urban Design Ltd.
Alireza Sagharchi has taught at the Prince of Wales's Institute of Architecture. He has been a visiting critic at Yale, Greenwich University, Notre Dame summer school and at the Welsh schools of Architecture. He is a founder member of the Traditional Architecture Group at the RIBA, where he serves on the executive committee. Mr. Sagharchi sits on the Casework Panel of the Georgian Group and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
Work
Before setting up his own practice, Alireza Sagharchi was for 15 years the Senior Associate at Porphyrios Associates, a firm whose work follows the principles of traditional architecture and urbanism.
Alireza Sagharchi has been responsible for a number of high-profile projects. These include master-planning in commercial, resort/leisure and private residential sector in the United Kingdom, Europe, North America and the Middle East.
Notable among these projects are a villa in the south of France, Embassies in Mayfair and Belgravia in London, the New Qandrangle and Theatre for Magdalen College in Oxford, the Kings Cross regeneration preliminary master plan in London, Princeton University Whitman College master plan, office buildings in Athens, Reading and Birmingham and luxury hotels in Germany, Greece and Egypt.
His practice is currently involved in various commissions in the UK and abroad. In London, these include a new classical villa in Highgate, major residences in Knightsbridge and Belgravia, offices in Mayfair, and abroad, a Housing development in Bucharest and a residence in Bahrain. Mr. Sagharchi's resort on the Danube Delta of Romania was
recently distinguished by the "Philippe Rotthier European Prize" .
Mr. Sagharchi's work has been widely published.
