INTBAU College of Traditional Practitioners Giuseppe Amoruso

Murray G. Miller is a Canadian architect born in 1962. Educated primarily in Canada, his career path commenced with an introduction to civil engineering and environmental design as a planned precursor to architecture. In 1987 Murray was awarded a Master of Architecture degree from the Technical University of Nova Scotia, Canada and in 1990 he received his Master of Environmental Design Studies (Conservation of the Built Environment) from the same university.

Work
Mr Miller has over twenty years of experience in architecture, architectural conservation and historic preservation through both private practice and government. He has worked extensively in Canada and also in the United States of America, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. In Canada, Murray was Period Architect for Public Works Canada and Principal Heritage Planner for the City of Edmonton; in the USA, Historic Preservation Officer for the City of Phoenix; in New Zealand, Senior Heritage Conservation Planner; and presently, Senior Executive, Architecture & Heritage, for Stephen Levrant Heritage Architecture Ltd, a private practice of architects and historic building consultants with offices in London, Manchester and Milan.

Mr Miller has acted as an expert witness for local authorities and property developers in the Environment Court of New Zealand on high profile heritage projects and is currently involved in the formulation of Justification Statements in relation to listed buildings and conservation area; visual impact assessments for new development in sensitive areas; conservation advice regarding the alteration, refurbishment and extension to listed buildings; and practice management.

Mr Miller's professional affiliations include membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners, Canadian Association of Professional Heritage Consultants, Institute of Historic Building Conservation (UK), and Royal Architectural Institute of Canada. He is also an associate of the New Zealand Planning Institute and of the American Institute of Architects. Mr. Miller is also a member of a number of non-professional organizations such as the International Committee on Monuments and Sites (UK), International Association of Impact Assessment and National Trust for Historic Preservation (USA).
