The workshop will follow the Strategic Design workflow: first, survey and documentation; second, representation and interpretation; third, innovation and design. Techniques will range from traditional drawing to digital information technologies. Digital techniques like mobile mapping, indoor positioning and infomobility will be utilised along with cultural mapping, visual mapping, and spatial visualisation of data and Smart Cities. Designs will be for adapting and integrating cultural heritage and place identity for contemporary needs, aspirations, functions, and meanings.
During the Summer School, the 3D mobile mapping survey of the Como Lake waterfront, the Km della Conoscenza path, will be presented as part of a special partnership between Politecnico di Milano and Topcon.
The Politecnico di Milano International Summer Schools are intensive programmes based on multidisciplinary workshops and the learning by practice method; 5 ECTS credits and a certificate of attendance are available from the Politecnico di Milano.
