Theorems for a Sustainable Century

In the context of Climate Change, Globalization and great geo-political and geo-ecological challenges we cannot rely only on criticism, wishes and desires. We need a Vision solidly anchored in "theorems" based on Culture, Science and Experience. We need examples, evidence and truth provided by history, as well as by logical deduction and scientific expertise. We need time-tested models and exemplar projects, and radical new proposals of an updated and refreshed strategy of Urbanism and Architecture.

New Sciences, Chaos and Complexity theories, new smart technologies, as well as new knowledge and evidence on sustainable city-building and architecture offer an abundance of lessons and suggestions illustrating both the promise and the challenges of constructing successfully the city of the future.

These seminars will discuss and illustrate some new paradigms for building the sustainable City of the Future. This still "Invisible City" will be explored by means of visual language (sketching, drawing, painting), analytical techniques, historic culture, and the synthesis of the architectural project, not as a distant "Utopia" but as a holistic and tangible reality.
